Dunalina
Definition
Dunaliela is a biomarine ingredient coming from a Mediterranean microalgae.
The specie, Dunaliella salina is an pear shaped green microalgae capable to maintain their survival under high
salt concentrations up to 35%. In order for this particular microalgae to survive extreme saline environments , it has two self protective mechanisms:
• The lack o f cell wall to fight against osmotic pressure caused by high salinity, producing glycerol
• The color change (green to red) to protect itself against high solar radiation, by producing carotenoids.
The extraction methodology and its entire creation process, makes Dunalina an ecological active ingredient.
